First Army Pay Deductions?

When you receive your first couple of checks from the Army, what all comes out of them? I know $300 is coming out for initial necessities, but what about everything else. All gear is pretty much mandatory from what I understand, and usually the soldier has to pay for it. Do they have to buy things like ballistic glasses and such? How much do all of these extras cost, and when do they come out? I am completely new to all of this, so any little bit helps! Thanks
